Walking on Drift Ice
Located within Nagashima Resort in Mie Prefecture, Nabana no Sato is one of the largest flower parks in Japan. Throughout the year, the park holds flower-themed events. Nabana no Sato has restaurants, souvenir stores, a hot spring and a beer garden, so you can spend the whole day there.
From May to July, the park features a firefly festival, and I enjoyed the dream-like atmosphere of that event. From late October to early May, Nabana no Sato presents a light show, and you can enjoy that amazing show while dining on Chinese, Italian or Japanese cuisine. The best-known feature of the show is the spectacular 200-meter-long Tunnel of Light, which has appeared on major social networking sites. When I visited, the final 100 meters of the Tunnel of Light was designed to resemble a tunnel of cherry blossoms. The lights themselves were in the form of those blossoms, and the color gradually changed.
A fine place for enjoying the fragrance of flowers, Nabana no Sato is delightful at any time of year. And in the colder months, it offers the impressive attraction of the magnificent light show.
