Ishigaki-jima is one of the southernmost islands in the Okinawa Isles and is famous for its beautiful ocean and sea activities. But the island has many other attractions.
Banna Park is notable as the southernmost forest park in Japan and is in the shadow of Mt. Banna, which at 230 meters towers north of Ishigaki City. The park is also called “Oceanview Park,” because it overlooks the beautiful sea of Okinawa. Recently, a Segway park tour has become a popular tourist activity. The guided tour takes about 2 hours, covering a vast area throughout the forest. As the cabin crews of Japan Airlines experienced in this movie, the tour features, of course, detailed observation of the island’s flora and fauna, as well as stories of the island culture and history. Many other secrets, too, are revealed, including hidden gems and information for gourmets.
Take the free shuttle bus that departs from the front of the Hirata Tourist Desk at the Ishigaki Port Terminal.
